Greater Jakarta: Man dies instantly after being hit by train

n unidentified man died instantly and his body was dismembered after being hit by a commuter train on Jl. Tanah Tinggi 1, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.

'€œThe incident took place at 11.45 a.m. I saw the man standing right in the middle of the rail track, daring a train coming from Jatinegara toward Senen,'€ gate officer Chandra said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.

He added that he saw the train slow down a bit but then the victim fell down before the train hit him.

Adj. Comr. Iskandar, the district traffic unit head of the Senen Police, said the police suspected that the man committed suicide.

'€œWe haven'€™t identified the victim. He wore green batik trousers and a white T-shirt,'€ he said.

The victim, estimated to be 50 years old, was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in Central Jakarta.
