In line with World Water Day on March 22, the people of Bakalrejo village in Susukan district in Semarang, Central Java, were offered aid in the form of a water filtration facility from the Indonesian Movement of Healthy Drinking Water (GAMSI), a community that is concerned about the quality of drinking water in Indonesia.
The water filtration device is called LIFESAVER C2, an English-made patented technology with a filtration capacity of 2 million for sterile drinking water that does not need any chemicals, electricity or UV light. Thanks to the LIFESAVER C2, Bakalrejo will be a self-sufficient village because it can produce its own drinking water from any available source, without energy dependency, without damaging the environment and ultimately protecting the water supply itself.
This product functions very simply: 'Fill, Pump and Drink' from any water source like rain-water, well-water, nearby river or lake, and pretty much anywhere, including schools, medical facilities, home settlements or other areas that do not have pipe networks from the government.
The sophisticated LIFESAVER C2's ability to produce healthy water instantly is a result of the patented hand pump that uses "nano-ultra filtration" that filters anything above 15 nano microns. The filter has the ability to filter not only dirt but also all waterborne bacteria; even the smallest virus that is 18 nano microns named Parvovirus.
With this ability, the product can filter parasite protozoa in cyst. Giardia Lamblia cyst and Cryptosporidium microscopic, which is the cause of increasing diarrhea in Indonesia, and usually it is hard to diminish using kaporite or hypochloride.
LIFESAVER C2 has been tested and has exceeded the protocol standard for microbial filtration in an emergency/military operation by London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and can filter out more than 99.999995% bacteria and 99.999% virus filtration.
LIFESAVER Systems has also become part of Rapid Response Facility (RRF) of UK's government, an important part of quick response aid in time of international crisis.
LIFESAVER systems joins other organizations as well as part of the RRF network including Oxfam that had delivered around 2000 LIFESAVER Jerrycans when Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines.
LIFESAVER C2 is also used by the UK military for its troops to supply them with safe and clean drinking water everywhere from any water source.
Equipped with failsafe technology, the product can automatically stop the filter when a maximum capacity has been reached. With this protection, the filtration will be optimalized.
The LIFESAVER C2 unit is available as a container tank with water holding capacity of 750 liters and is able to produced up to 12 liters per minute, faster than the average tap water in the country.
In general, water conditions have been deteriorating as a result of industrial pollution, household pollution, etc. Many health problems are also caused by difficulties to have quick access to clean drinking water when needed.
It takes a lot of time and a large budget to solve these problems. Infrastructure development that is not evenly distributed as well as the fact that not many people understand and are not concerned enough about drinking water quality are only some of the difficulties that advocates face.
GAMSI, supported by the Advanced Regenerative System (ARS) team as the exclusive distributor of the LIFESAVER C2, is coming forward to answer the challenge.
GAMSI is committed to all stakeholders, governments as well as private corporate social responsibility groups to help provide healthy drinking water and practically achieve the 2019 Post Millennium Development Goal (Post-MDG) to provide clean drinking water that will also reduce risk of water-borne diseases like diarrhea, especially those affecting children.
"Bakalrejo village is the first step in our movement and we will keep working to increase the community's concern about healthy drinking water to have a higher living standard in the future,' said GAMSI representative R. Laksono.
Hopefully the installed LIFESAVER C2 facility will bring benefits not only to the people of Bakalrejo but will also inspire others to have a self-sufficient drinking water system.
