Travel with fewer jitters thanks to GoCar’s ProtectShield

S

tarting in May 2020, many Indonesians returned to their work and business activities outside the house after several months of staying at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although many are eager to resume their activities outside the house, they recognize the importance of adhering strictly to health and hygiene protocols     set by the government to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Therefore, it is important that many service sectors – including transportation – also apply these protocols to give customers peace of mind during the pandemic.

Indonesian super app Gojek has also stepped up with its health and hygiene protection efforts, as demand for its GoCar service has been on the rise with people working from the office again, as many people are still afraid to take crowded public transportation to commute to work.

.

These efforts are anchored in Gojek’s J3K campaign, comprising three easy-to-remember Indonesian phrases: jaga Kesehatan (protect your health), jaga Kebersihan (protect your hygiene) and jaga Keamanan (protect your safety) to always remind driver partners and customers to remain vigilant about their own health and that of their passengers amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Among Gojek’s latest health protection innovations in light of the coronavirus outbreak is the ProtectShield, which is gradually being installed in all vehicles used for GoCar services. The ProtectShield is a barrier between a GoCar driver on the front seat and his or her passengers on the back seat in order to prevent virus transmission between them.

.

Once a customer makes a booking and successfully gets a driver, they can check right away on the application, not only whether the driver has installed the ProtectShield barrier, but also if they have had their temperature checked and their vehicle disinfected. The ProtectShield barrier is free-of-charge, it does not incur any extra costs for customers. Gojek also makes sure that its driver partners clean and sanitize the ProtectShield barrier regularly.

According to Aditya Surya Pratama (@adityaspratama), a medical doctor, the ProtectShield in GoCar vehicles enhances the health protection of both drivers and passengers.

.

“As people begin to resume their activities outside the house, both GoCar drivers and passengers are aware of the importance of wearing a face mask on their travels. The addition of the ProtectShield barrier provides an extra layer of protection for both parties from the risk of contracting the coronavirus from an exchange of droplets,” he told The Jakarta Post.

“Drivers are advised to sanitize the barrier every time a passenger gets out of the car,” he said.

The ProtectShield barrier is just the latest in an ongoing series of protection measures implemented by Gojek for both its drivers and passengers. Other measures include setting up J3K Safety Centers for Drivers in more than 200 service areas across Indonesia.

Drivers can stop by at J3K Safety Centers for Gojek Drivers (called Posko Aman J3K in Indonesian) to have their body temperature checked, vehicle disinfected and have a ProtectShield installed  (for GoCar driver partners). Gojek also distributes health protection kits comprising face masks, hand sanitizer and health supplements to the drivers regularly at these centers.

All of these integrated initiatives are expected to help passengers stay productive and return to their daily activities while feeling safe and protected. Visit gojek.com/j3k for further information.
