he COVID-19 pandemic, which reached Indonesia in early March 2020 and has not yet shown signs of ending, has affected nearly all business sectors. However, a number of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have managed to withstand the tough challenges and propel the wheel of the economy.
According to data from the Cooperatives and SMEs Ministry, 99 percent of business players in Indonesia are MSMEs, with job employment reaching 97 percent.
The data, reported by Antara, also shows that MSMEs have also managed to drive economic growth from minus 5 percent to slowly approach 1 percent. Culinary MSMEs have proven to be strong to withstand the challenges.
Culinary businesses are one of the fastest growing creative businesses in Indonesia, which PT Heinz ABC Indonesia has been paying attention to.
Moreover, culinary businesses have shown they can withstand the difficult times amid the pandemic pressure, which has prompted PT Heinz ABC Indonesia, represented by Kraft Heinz Food Service Division, to support culinary business players to allow them to thrive and move forward.
Kraft Heinz Indonesia & PNG managing director Steven Debrabandere said on Tuesday that the company was eager to partner with chefs and culinary business players in order to grow together.
For this reason, Kraft Heinz Food Service offers collaborations in diverse forms, from collaborating on dishes to facilitating mediums through which they can share experience and knowledge.
“Through In-House Chef, Kraft Heinz Food Service, we provide a variety of new dishes that can serve as a source of inspiration for business players. Not only do we provide dishes that are suited to the Indonesian palate but also new and unique fusion dishes. It will be much easier for us to get ideas for new dishes because we are supported by Kraft Heinz Food Service International network, which partners with chefs from various countries,” Debrabandere said.
Debrabandere said Kraft Heinz Food Service also provided dishes supported by ABC products as a brand with various sauces that are suitable for Indonesian and Asian foods.
It offers a complete range of products, from sweet soy sauce, salty soy sauce and sesame oil to chili and tomato sauce in different sizes.
Kraft Heinz Food Service will hold a webinar this year to launch the Heinz Food Service Institute. The webinar, titled “Develop Your Culinary Business”, is supported by Food Startup Indonesia, the Association of Culinary Professionals (ACP) Indonesia and the Academy of Pastry and Culinary Arts (APCA) Indonesia. The webinar will discuss culinary-related business and is hoped to inspire culinary business players.
“With the event, we hope that chefs and culinary business players and members of the public at large who have a keen interest in running a culinary business can move forward toward a better Indonesia,” he said.
Kraft Heinz Food Service Institute will be launched on July 29. Current and prospective culinary business players are expected to gain knowledge on business not only in terms of theory but also hands-on experiences from the experts.
