quality, accessibility and support for entrepreneurs with disabilities require a collaborative commitment from various stakeholders to create a solid support system that will allow them to contribute and have an impact, especially from an economic perspective.
The great lengths PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) Mekaar has taken to support customers who are living with disabilities have proven that with the presence of a structured and sustainable financing and empowerment ecosystem, these entrepreneurs are able and empowered to try and develop their potential.
Sunar Basuki as the director of institutions and planning of PNM, was accompanied by the assistant deputy for financial services at the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Ministry, Khoerur Roziqin, and special staffer to the President, Angkie Yudistia, when he met with disabled PNM customers to observe their businesses and have a conversation with them.
“Madam, I hope that you will be more enthusiastic and diligent in participating in the training program from PNM so that your business can grow; the financing cycle will be smoother and your business will always run smoothly," Sunar SAID to one of the entrepreneurs being helped with PNM Mekaar.
Echoing a message by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, and in accordance with Law No. 8/2016 regarding disabilities, PNM is giving opportunities, accessibility for financing and empowerment, as well as facilitating equal rights for PNM Mekaar customers with disabilities.
The gathering and business visits were quickly followed by a weekly meeting for disabled PNM Meekar entrepreneurs. The occasion marked the first meeting attended and participated by Angkie, who was there to learn about the work that has been done and how it has impacted PNM customers.
"Ibu Komariyah and the women in this group have proven that as women with special needs like us, we are capable, empowered, able to be independent and have an impact on ourselves and benefit other people, as well as our families. I hope that with good cooperation between PNM and the [National Commission for Disabilities], customers and prospective customers with disabilities can continue to be embraced," said Angie.
“Behind the existing limitations, PNM Mekaar customers with disabilities have extraordinary abilities, intelligence and capabilities. Being disabled doesn't mean you can't produce achievements, this is proof that you are able to achieve," Roziqin told the entrepreneurs as he concluded the occasion.
