ational hero R.A. Kartini advocated for the emancipation of women. Her efforts made it possible for Indonesian women today to attain higher education, participate in government or pursue a career in a field that was predominantly male. Thanks to her, women are no longer relegated to the home to take care of their husbands and children. Indonesian women can be anything they want to be in contributing to the nation’s progress.
To celebrate Kartini Day, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) collaborated with BRI, Pegadaian and the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry in holding the WOMAN (Wonderful & Magnificent) 2022 event on April 21 at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Sentul, West Java.
“Women are important figures in terms of transforming a company, especially state-owned enterprises. As a manifestation of Indonesia’s financial inclusion, the role of these 'heroes' is vital,” SOEs Minister Erick Thohir said.
WOMAN 2022 was held in hybrid form, with in-person activities held at the SICC and a virtual event livestreamed on the BANK BRI YouTube account.
The event saw the attendance of all members on the boards of directors and commissioners at Ultra Mikro (UMi) Holdings, founded by BRI, Pegadaian and PNM. It also welcomed the participation of more than 7,000 women, consisting of 5,000 PNM Mekaar Account Officers (AO), 1,000 PNM Mekaar customers, 500 BRI employees and 500 Pegadaian appraisers.
The event also featured the special appearance of BRI Brand Ambassador Cinta Laura Kiehl and PNM Brand Ambassador Via Vallen.
To mark the occasion, PNM also released the new Mekaar jingle, titled "Mekaar Buat Kita” (Mekaar for Us), which Via performed live in front of 7,000 female entrepreneurs of ultra-micro businesses.
In his remarks, BRI President Director Sunarso said that the three-way collaboration to establish UMi Holdings had secured a new source of growth.
To ensure that UMi Holdings succeeded in realizing economic equality and financial inclusion in Indonesia, he said, three things were needed: key performance indicators (KPIs), strategic initiatives toward achieving the KPIs and an institutional culture that fostered the achievement of the KPIs.
UMi Holdings had KPIs and strategic initiatives in place, so it was necessary to determine a goal-oriented institutional through a cultural program that was in line with the SOEs Ministry’s One Culture AKHLAK movement.
Toward this end, UMi Holdings had launched the Brigade Madani cultural activation program, said PNM President Director Arief Mulyadi.
As of April 21, PNM has disbursed loans worth Rp 123.9 trillion to 11.6 million PNM Mekaar customers, whom it serves though 3,673 PNM service offices in 34 provinces, 443 regencies and cities and 5,006 subdistricts across the country.
