T Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI (stock code: BBNI) proactively seeks sources of local wisdom-based economic growth to prompt stable economic growth in the micro-, small and medium enterprises (MSME) segment.
Together with the Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Ministry, Gajah Mada University and Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in a pentahelix framework collaboration, BNI contributes to the Local Wisdom-Based BUMDes investment and business development project.
The project kicked off at Balkondes (the village economy hall) Wanurejo, Magelang, Central Java, on May 19. It was physically attended by the Deputy Minister of Villages, Development and Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Budie Arie Setiadi, Director General of Culture at the Education, Culture, Research and Technology Ministry Hilmar Farid and regent of Magelang Zaenal Arifin.
BNI deputy president director Adi “Susi” Sulistyowati was the main speaker, explaining the potential of a cooperation between BUMDes and BNI. Susi explained that the initiative was a transformational breakthrough to develop and improve the economy in villages.
Susi added that advances in technology and information can help villages carry out activities on the digital platform, including mentoring and fostering village businesses, virtually promoting their tourism and even selling MSME products on the metaverse.
“We appreciate and fully support the economic development and investment initiatives for digitally based productive businesses through BUMDes, Balkondes and the Village Economy Gallery created by the Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Ministry. Of course, we hope that this will be the source of productive economic activities that can raise our living standards while enriching our Indonesian local wisdom-based economy,” she said.
Susi added that BNI is moving closer to its customers through various integrated ecosystem-based financial solutions that make it easier for customers to access various digital-transaction service features anywhere and anytime in a quick, easy, safe and comfortable way.
BNI’s network consists of more than 1,800 outlets, around 16,000 ATM networks, as well as the BNI Agen46 network of more than 158,000 agents spread throughout the country. BNI is also present in every business sector starting from the government ecosystem, health, education, tourism, MSMEs and agriculture at the central, regional and the rural level. These are all expected to meet the needs of the wider community of financial services and solutions.
“We hope that all of these solutions can help the public and MSMEs to access banking services including transfers, cardless cash withdrawals, e-wallet transactions and top ups, QRIS, opening digital accounts and more. Especially people in rural areas," she said.
Susi also said that BNI is also actively channeling financing to the public, either through the People's Business Credit (KUR) program credit scheme up to a ceiling of Rp 500 million (US$34,000), as well as commercial-credit schemes that fulfill the needs and stages of MSME-business development.
"We are also focused on encouraging MSMEs to upscale. One of the main programs is BNI Xpora. Through this Xpora, BNI offers three value propositions for MSMEs: Go Productive, Go Digital and Go Global. BNI provides assistance in business matching to simultaneously increase the productivity, quality and competitiveness of the local MSMEs," she added. (*)
