Customs and excise office releases maiden exports to Asia and US markets

o facilitate domestic trade and industry, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise has provided fiscal incentives and ease of export and import procedures through various excise facilities.

The Import Tax Waiver for Materials for Export Oriented Goods (KITE) and Bonded Zone facility, introduced by the government to bolster the manufacturing industry, have successfully paved the way for business players to penetrate Asian and the United States markets.

Banjarmasin Customs and Excise Office head Edy Susetyo saw off the maiden export of decorated plants, produced by CV Kebun Bunga Urban, a micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), by air to international markets.

“CV Kebun Bunga Urban exported 37.4 kilograms of a decorative plant, the staghorn fern, to Taiwan through Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin International Airport [South Kalimantan],” said Edy.

He added that it was the second time the Banjarmasin Customs and Excise Office saw off the maiden export of a local brand through Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin International Airport.

In Maluku, Ambon Customs and Excise Office head R. Teddy Laksmana, accompanied by supporting team head Ambon, M. Yusuf Nasution, witnessed the maiden export of loin tuna to Japan on Thursday.

PT Kreasi Himono exported fresh loin tuna worth 90,000 yen (US$691.49).

The event was also attended by Saadiah Uluputy from the House of Representatives’ Commission IV, and Hatta Arisandi, head of Ambon’s Fish Quality Control Quarantine and Safety Body.

Meanwhile, East Java II Customs and Excise Office head Oentarto Wibowo, accompanied by Kediri Customs and Excise Office head Sunaryo, released the initial export of products produced by PT Capglobal Industry International on Thursday.

PT Capglobal Industry is one of the users of the Bonded Zone facility, with knitted hats as its products, located in Nganjuk regency, East Java.

Two containers measuring 40 feet loaded with knitted hats were ready to be exported to the US. Under its export plan for 2022, the company will ship 20 containers measuring 40 feet each.

“The export value of knitted hats totaled $146,178. PT Capglobal Industry International has made an incredible achievement. The company increased its performance since the company secured its status as a Bonded Zone recipient [on] May 25, 2021,” Oentarto explained.

He added that with various customs and excise facilities the office had provided, recipients could help boost local employment so as to spur economic growth and raise the welfare of people around them.

“Apart from that, the given facilities are expected to boost our industrial competitive advantage and the state’s foreign exchange earnings,” he said.
