T Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI (stock code: BBNI) continues its efforts to push more micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) products onto the global stage. In Turkey, the company held a Festival Pasar Senggol to showcase fifty types of products from BNI’s MSME partners.

Festival Pasar Senggol is an Indonesian economic and cultural festival in Turkey. The festival demonstrates the strengths of diaspora businesses that successfully survived the pandemic.

BNI corporate secretary Mucharom said that Turkey is a trading partner for Indonesia whose trading value increases linearly every year. Citing data from the Trade Ministry, the total value of the Indonesia-Turkey trade in 2021 amount to US$2.01 billion with Indonesia recording a surplus of $1.2 billion as a net exporter. Turkey’s economic growth in 2021, meanwhile, maintained a growth of 11%.

“We welcome this festival that was initiated by student and Indonesian diaspora groups here in Turkey. The State-Owned Enterprises Ministry and BNI are not just working to optimize the market potential but also to actively contribute to the betterment of economic relations between Turkey and Indonesia,” Mucharom said, noting the amicable relationship between the two countries.

As a bank given the mandate to go global, BNI sent at least fifty products from MSME partners. According to Mucharom, these products can attract the attention of Indonesian businesses as well as Turkish consumers to kickstart future cooperation.

“We also had a link-and-match program with help from the consulate general. Therefore, we could focus better on preparing the goods before entering Turkey,” he added.

BNI’s MSME partners that the bank also fostered included Xpora MSMEs, namely Bali Wirama in the home-and-garden decor category that has shipped 100% of its product to Europe. Faber Instrumen Indonesia is also another MSME in the musical instrument and wooden-home-decor category with products such as wooden radios, shoehorns, clocks and USB flash drives that attracted the attention of overseas customers due to their uniquely Indonesian craftsmanship.

To remedy the homesickness of the Indonesian diaspora, Rumah BUMN BNI also participated with culinary products from Rumah BUMN Sleman, including Telaga Rasa. Telaga Rasa is an MSME that produces BPOM-certified instant herbal drinks and has a considerable retail presence in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Rumah BUMN Tegal presented NM Food, a food and beverage MSME well-known for its snacks.
