ublicly listed PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal (IPCC) has reached its 10th anniversary milestone. Its merger with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) comes at a strategic time to transform the company into a world-class car terminal operator.
"Based on the IPCC 2020-2024 road map. In 2022, IPCC carries the corporate strategic theme of growth through integration with an emphasis on standardizing operational activities in all managed areas and terminals, and integrating key account management (KAM) by creating a customer service center that is at the forefront of service,” said Rio TN Lasse, president director of IPCC. “We are also optimizing the assets we manage to create various business opportunities for IPCC.”
IPCC is a subsidiary of the state-owned enterprise (SOE) that has business authority over the management of car terminal vehicles within the Pelindo area. The area has been expanded this year after the merger between the two. Aside from Tanjung Priok, IPCC also has a presence in ports such as Belawan in North Sumatra, Panjang Lampung, Gresik and Surabaya in East Java, Pontianak in West Kalimantan and Makassar.
In order to further transform into a world-class operator, IPCC has prioritized four values this year, which are integration, expansion, digitization and coordination. The first value comes in the company’s realization of “beyond the gate” integrated services, including operational standardization, KAM and unlocking idle assets. Furthermore, the company will also integrate data and services to ensure a smooth flow of goods, data and money, and will develop and implement business processes consistently.
On the expansion strategy, Rio added that IPCC would operate a commercially viable vehicle terminal in the Pelindo area, and has plans to expand to other related ports that are commercially viable and "future ready" organically or inorganically. IPCC is also adding to the synergy of the Pelingo group, where IPCC acts as a business operator.
A vital part of the strategy is the ability to adapt with the growth of the digital era. Therefore, IPCC is accelerating its digital integration in all aspects of operation and services. The IT network implementation has been adjusted to the master plan, as well as exploring analytics, big data and business intelligence for future business purposes.
“For us, digitalization is not only about technology, but also new ways to reach customers. This includes technology development, human resource development and IPCC's continuous improvement process,” said Rio.
The last strategy is coordination, in particular strengthening coordination within the Pelindo group according to the post-merger business model.
After 10 years of providing services for around 50 thousand to 60 thousand total export and import cars and heavy equipment, along with assisting world-renowned brands such as Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi, IPCC is the leading company of its sector in Indonesia. At the Tanjung Priok port in Jakarta alone, the IPCC provides up to 31 hectares of land that is capable of loading more than 1 million vehicles before the export process, as well as temporary parking for a maximum of one month after the arrival of imports.
“By entrusting all loading and unloading processes from export-import activities to us, it will ensure that the loading-uploading process at the port is more efficient, safe, fast and guaranteed. Because all the equipment here uses tools that are fully automatic and the most advanced today. And all service systems have been digitized so they are more efficient, accurate and accountable,” Rio concluded.
