oekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise has provided a primary rush handling service for the import of foot-and-mouth (PMD) disease vaccines for livestock.
Of the total 3 million doses of vaccines transported by Emirates Airline EK 0358, 800,000 arrived in Indonesia on June 16.
Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo, accompanied by Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise head Finari Manan and the heads of the Soekarno-Hatta Community (Kombata), welcomed the arrival of the vaccines.
Syahrul gave his appreciation to the Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise office for the primary service supporting the import of the vaccines.
“The rapid spread of the PMD has worried us. One of the ways to curb the spread is by providing the vaccine, supported by the cooperation of all stakeholders involved in facilitating the process of the vaccine import,” said Syahrul.
Meanwhile, Finari Manan explained that the import of PMD vaccines, classified as a time-sensitive imported good, need the rush handling service to comply with Finance Ministerial Regulation No. 74/PMK.04/2021 on the loading of imported goods for rush handling service.
“We [Soekarno-Hatta Airport] are committed to making sure that the import of the PMD vaccines can run smoothly so they can be given to healthy animals living in the yellow and red zone first,” said Finari.
Through coordination and collaboration, the Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise office always gives its full support to the import of goods that are useful for the public at large.
