A

s part of its commitment to supporting domestic businesses in the global market, the Customs and Excise Office has officiated the release of two leading local commodities from Sulawesi and Yogyakarta to the export market.

Customs and Excise Head of Public Relations and Customs Counseling Subdirectorate Hatta Wardhana said that the institution would continue to support domestic industries with various initiatives, noting that industrial growth was expected to boost the national economic recovery.

On July 4, Makassar Customs, together with the South Sulawesi Customs and Excise Office, released the first export of South Sulawesi's flagship product, coconut shell briquettes, belonging to CV Coconut Internasional Indonesia, to the UK. In its initial export, CV Coconut Internasional Indonesia released 18 tons of coconut shell briquettes with a value of US$23,040.

Hatta said that CV Coconut Internasional Indonesia was one of the companies engaged in processing coconut shells into briquettes.

"Assistance from Makassar Customs has enabled CV Coconut International Indonesia to expand its business to penetrate the European market," he said.

Also attending the event were members of the South Sulawesi Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) as well as representatives from the South Sulawesi branch of Bank Indonesia and the South Sulawesi Trade Office.

Andi Ina Kartika Sari, Chair of the South Sulawesi Regional Legislative Council, expressed the council’s readiness to support local industries with the South Sulawesi provincial government.

“We continue to move to provide space and facilities for the heads of domestic business actors through the ease of licensing services. The synergy between the central government, regional governments and business actors creates a conducive business climate and improves the national economy,” she said.

Earlier in Yogyakarta, PT Dong Young Tress Indonesia exported one container containing 430 cartons of wigs with a net weight of 2 tons to Los Angeles, the United States, on June 30, valued at Rp 1.86 billion.

PT Dong Young Tress Indonesia is one of the companies that has received bonded zone facilities under the Yogyakarta Customs jurisdiction.

“This is the implementation of Customs' function as trade facilitator and industrial assistance provider. Customs and Excise will continue to encourage exports for the sake of the national economic recovery," Hatta said.
