he Customs and Excise agency of Soekarno Hatta recently assisted Densus 88 Mabes Polri (a counterterrorism group in Indonesia) with the management of equipment for the Shooting Competition of the 12th Annual Warrior Competition (AWC) in Jordan, at the end of June.
“Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise always provides services and facilities to facilitate imports and exports, especially for government agency activities,” said head of the Soekarno-Hatta customs office, Finari Manan.
The goods were held at the Import Warehouse of PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta (JAS), and consisted of long-barreled and short-barreled weapons, magazines and other supporting equipment. The Customs and Excise agency checked them and found that they were in accordance with the Notification Letter for Carrying Goods (SPBM), which was issued at the end of May. Finari also revealed that the equipment was initially exported using the passenger-luggage mechanism by Densus 88.
"Before being taken abroad, the Soekarno-Hatta customs officer had carried out a physical examination of this weaponry equipment, and was given approval for temporary export. After the shooting competition is over, the goods will be brought back to Indonesia, but via cargo, so we also provide re-import services," he explained.
Finari further clarified that the re-import service is the reentry of equipment into the customs area of goods that have previously been exported.
"For the Densus 88 weapons equipment that we serve, the reimport includes the types of goods that are reimported in the same quality, namely the condition of the goods not undergoing any processing or refinement outside the customs area which can be in the form of goods that have been used for exhibition, show or other purposes -- competitions outside the customs area," he explained.
This is then approved in accordance with 175/PMK.04/2021 that states that the criteria for goods that can be reimported include those that were previously exported, in the same quality as at the time of reimport, for repair, workmanship and testing purposes.
Moreover, it also stated that the requirements for obtaining an exemption from reimport are: that the importation is carried out by the person who exports the reimported goods, that the goods being reimported can be identified as the same goods when exported, that the reimport is carried out within a maximum period of time of two years from the date of the export customs notification or the date of the export proof and that there are supporting documents or evidence proving that the goods being reimported are goods originating from within the customs area.
