T Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI, stock code: BBNI) continuously optimizes business potential among the diaspora community. BNI has joined the Canadian diaspora with the Diaspora Loan facility. BNI, through its New York branch, has disbursed credit to Axia Distribution located in Vancouver and Nai-Nai Noodles located in Toronto.
Director of treasury and international at BNI Henry Panjaitan said the Diaspora Loan services had been effective in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, England and the United States.
"The Diaspora Loan is a loan for the Indonesian Diaspora and is designed in a comprehensive and prudent manner to accommodate the needs of members of the Indonesian Diaspora in developing their business overseas," said Henry.
Axia Distribution is one of the companies owned by members of the Indonesian diaspora and was established in 2004 in Vancouver. This company imports goods such as kitchen rugs from Indonesia to be sold in Canada and the US.
Meanwhile, Nai-Nai Noodles is a restaurant that sells food such as Indonesian chicken noodles, which was established two years ago by Sherlin, a member of the Indonesian disapora.
With the signing of the commitment that was done virtually, Sherlin and Nai-Nai Noodles thanked BNI New York for its assistance and support for her small business.
On the same occasion, Axia Distribution stated that the loan from BNI New York tremendously helped the growth of its business.
Henry hopes that BNI New York will continue to explore and play an active role in facilitating MSME businesses owned by the Indonesian diaspora in the US and Canada.
"With the mandate we have received as a global bank from Indonesia, of course, we will develop more innovations and business relationships to expand Indonesian businesses, especially in the United States and Canada," he said.
Market potential of 21,000 people
Indonesian Ambassador to Canada Daniel Tumpal Simanjuntak expressed his appreciation for BNI's proactive steps in Canada. According to him, BNI was able to explore a lot of business potential among the Indonesian diaspora in Canada totaling around 21,000 people with various professions and businesses.
"The Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa and the Indonesian Consulate General in Toronto and Vancouver greatly appreciate BNI New York, which continues to be committed to facilitating the development of the Indonesian diaspora business in Canada," he concluded.
