T Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) is taking an increasingly active role in empowering and assisting MSMEs through the Business Capacity Development (PKU) program, aimed at ultra-micro women entrepreneurs in Banyuwangi, East Java.
A total of 750 Mekaar customers and Banyuwangi-based MSMEs received a Certificate of Business Identification Number (NIB) in a training and NIB issuance event held at GOR Tawangalun, Banyuwangi, East Java, on Aug. 11.
Based on data from the Investment Ministry, a total of 1,676,153 NIBs had been successfully issued through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system throughout Indonesia as of Aug. 8. Of this figure, as many as 98 percent were micro and small enterprises (MSE) and 2 percent were medium and large businesses.
Specifically for East Java, 246,623 NIBs have been successfully issued, accounting for 14.71 percent of the total NIBs that have been successfully issued.
Banyuwangi recorded the second largest NIB issuance for individual MSEs in East Java with 14,285 NIB.
The event was attended by Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani, Investment Ministry Deputy for Capital Services Achmad Idrus, head of BRI Banyuwangi Sari Wahono, head of Government Goods and Services Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP) Abdullah Azwar Anas, head of Banyuwangi Department of Micro Business Cooperatives and Trade Rr. Nanin Oktavianti, and PNM head of PKU Division Dicky Fajrian.
Bahlil underlined the importance of MSMEs, saying they were the foundation of Indonesia’s economic growth.
"Of the [country’s] total businesses, 99.3 percent are MSMEs, or 64 million businesses. Therefore, it is surely MSMEs that dominate the NIB figures," he said.
"Hopefully with this NIB certificate, PNM customers will be guaranteed the legality of their business so that they and their families can prosper," Dicky said.
Through the PKU program, PNM advises its customers on the importance of having an NIB so that the legality of their business is guaranteed along with increased financing facilities from banks, opportunities to receive training and the opportunity to participate in the procurement of goods or services for the government that can increase the welfare of the customers’ family.
As of Aug. 9, PNM had distributed Rp 134.25 trillion in financing to 12.39 million PNM Mekaar customers. Currently, PNM has 3,500 PNM Mekaar service offices and 688 PNM ULaMM service offices throughout Indonesia, serving MSEs in 34 provinces, 422 regencies and cities and 5,640 subdistricts.
