T Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), through the Business Capacity Development (PKU) program, has held a comparative study on kelor (moringa) leaf processing at Industri Kelor CV Tri Utami Jaya in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara.
Held on Friday, the activity was attended by PNM Mataram Branch Leader Darwis Hari Pondang and owner of CV Tri Utami Jaya Nasrin.
PNM invited PNM Mekaar customers who worked as moringa leaf farmers and processors to gain entrepreneurial insight and business management ability, as well as business efficiency, including developing other potential alternatives.
Moringa leaf-derived products have been chosen by Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Minister Teten Masduki as an official souvenir for the Group of 20 forum.
"Hopefully this product can go international," said Teten.
For PNM, the activity was a means of monitoring the development of its customers, maintaining and increasing customer loyalty and giving pride to being a PNM Mekaar customer.
The study was carried out from Aug. 10 to 12, with participants coming from several PNM Branches: two PNM Kendari customers from the Mekaar Tinanggea and Kendari units, five PNM Denpasar (Kupang) customers from the Mekaar Maulafa unit and two PNM Pati customers from the Mekaar Kunduran unit. A total of 10 PNM Mekaar customers participated, along with a companion from their respective regions.
Darwis said the training event was one of the three assets provided by PNM for its customers.
“In supporting the growth of ultra-micro enterprises and MSMEs, PNM provides three types of capital, namely financial, intellectual and social. This comparative study activity is intellectual capital in the form of mentoring training from the PKU Division program,” he explained.
On the first day, PNM Mekaar customers were invited to visit Nasrin's moringa garden, located on Jl. Raya Bypass Penuja Batujai. Customers learned how to seed and plant properly, using polybags, and were given additional insight on the use of water hyacinth plants as compost.
On the second day, customers learned about the moringa industry, specifically the moringa factory owned by Nasrin, which is located on Jl. Sakura in Mataram. At the factory, customers learned the process of producing moringa leaves, including drying, storing dried leaves at a certain temperature, grinding the leaves into powder and packaging moringa-derived products, namely moringa tea and moringa coffee.
Nasrin also explained the various health benefits of moringa leaves, including helping the immune system, improving heart health and lowering cholesterol.
According to Nasrin, each of his children already had their own companies linked to Mr. Nasrin's CV. He noted that regeneration was very important in order to preserve the benefits of moringa.
The companies owned by Nasrin’s children have produced packaged moringa drinks, as well as supplying raw materials for cosmetics. Nasrin's own life motto is, "The globe is not as wide as moringa leaves, but moringa leaves will go global."
Ika Sutiyatin, a PNM Kendari customer, said she was very happy with the comparative study program from PNM.
“I have learned a lot about moringa leaves. Previously, we only made moringa leaves. Now we know that moringa can be produced into tea, coffee and other products. Thank you PNM.”
As of Aug. 9, PNM had distributed Rp 134.25 trillion in financing to 12.39 million PNM Mekaar customers. Currently, PNM has 3,500 PNM Mekaar service offices and 688 PNM ULaMM service offices throughout Indonesia serving MSEs in 34 provinces, 422 regencies and cities and 5,640 subdistricts.
