PNM backs Badminton Journalist Competition 2022 to mark Indonesia’s 77th Independence Day

J

ournalists in Jakarta felt the excitement of celebrating Indonesia’s 77th independence anniversary live and in person after two years of restrictions.

The Badminton Journalist Competition 2022, held on Aug. 20 in Kuningan, South Jakarta, with backing from PNM, matched participants in 32 doubles teams in a knockout competition. Not limited to journalists, the participants also included sports enthusiasts from among employees of state-owned enterprises (BUMN), which have brought pride to Indonesia on the world stage.

PNM Corporate Secretary Lalu Dodot Patria Ary enthusiastically supports building synergy between BUMN employees and journalists through sports events. For him, this year’s Badminton Journalist Competition was more than a sporting event: It was also a platform that fostered friendship between BUMN employees and journalists while building valuable skills outside of work.

“Badminton is one of the most popular sports among the public, especially since Indonesian athletes often bring home trophies at world events. Who knows, with the support of PNM, other badminton athletes who can also contribute to the name of the nation will emerge during this event," he said.

Dodot also expressed his hope that the activities held to celebrate the 77th anniversary of Indonesian independence would be held regularly in the years to come, prioritizing synergy with a greater variety of sports. Aside from building good ties between PNM and journalists, he hoped that the two partied could collaborate to produce journalistic works that would benefit the community, especially ultra-micro businesses.

"I believe that if this collaboration is pursued in an active manner, it will be very beneficial to grow the people's economy in Indonesia," he said.

As of Aug. 23, 2022, PNM had distributed loans totaling Rp 136.52 trillion to 12.5 million PNM Mekaar customers. PNM currently operates 3,500 PNM Mekaar service offices and 624 PNM ULaMM service offices across the archipelago, serving micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in 34 provinces, 443 regencies and/or cities and 5,640 subdistricts.
