The Indonesian G20 Presidency adopted the SAI20 communique

"The establishment of the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI20) is a legacy of the Indonesian Group of Twenty (G20) Presidency. It is an important step toward building a more resilient governance and encouraging a more effective collaboration among Supreme Audit Institutions, the government and other stakeholders”, said Ma’ruf Amin, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Vice President Ma’ruf inaugurated the SAI20 Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali, which convened for two days on Aug. 29-30. He was joined by the Head of Delegation of the Supreme Audit Institutions from G20 members and invited countries.

The SAI20 Summit discussed the role of SAI20 in tackling the global challenges, especially with the focus on two priorities: economic recovery and achieving the SDGs. The meeting successfully adopted the SAI20 communiqué, which emphasizes sustainability and inclusiveness of economic recovery that leaves no one behind. It underlines the importance of policy coherence, coordinated planning and sound risk management in managing an emergency.

The SAI20 communiqué further calls on the government of G20 to collaborate with all stakeholders to respond to global issues and to promote the efficiency, accountability, effectiveness and transparency of public administration.

“The SAI20 seeks effective collaboration among audit bodies and governments within the G20 community to ensure the implementation of the SAI’s commitments, roles and recommendations,” said Isma Yatun, Chairperson of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia.

Indonesia’s Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani gave special remarks on the second day of the meeting. At the Summit, the SAI20 members shared the importance of working in synergy with multi stakeholders to support Indonesia's G20 priorities by having a number of prominent resource persons, including the Minister of Health, Budi G. Sadikin, Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Johny G Plate.

The SAI20 Summit adopted the Rules of Procedures of the work of the SAI20 that will be carried over by India in 2023 and Brazil in 2024 at their G20 Presidency.

The SAI20 Summit was hosted by the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia. It was held subsequent to the SAI20 Technical Meeting on Jan. 26-27, the SAI20 Seminar on Jun. 17 and the SAI20 Senior Officials Meeting on Jun. 20-21.

The SAI20 is a new engagement group within the G20 workstreams, which was proposed by Indonesia to uphold good governance principles.
