T Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BNI) and the North Sumatra development bank, Bank Sumut, have resumed their Orange Synergy collaboration. In the advanced stage of the project development, BNI and Bank Sumut issued a domestic government credit card to encourage the Bangga Buatan Indonesia (Proud of Indonesian Products) movement especially in regard to the national payment system.
Previously, the Orange Synergy began with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between BNI vice president director Adi “Susi” Sulistyowati and Bank Sumut president director Rahmat Fadillah Pohan at Grha BNI Sudirman last month. The project is expected to support work units in the regional government, especially for fulfilling operational needs and official travel expenditures.
The credit cards were developed using the QRIS mechanism sourced from credit card funds that can be used at more than 20 million QRIS merchants. It will ultimately contribute positively to Bank Sumut and BNI’s business growth.
Susi explained that the use of government credit cards would help the central and regional governmental work units in filing operational or official travel expenditures. It will also take into account the vast QRIS network, mostly dominated by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"Of course, we hope that this step of cooperation can benefit the stakeholders as much as possible. Not only for local governments, but also for MSME owners who are currently experiencing the post-pandemic expansion period," she added.
The credit card can also facilitate government procurement spending through the platform provided centrally by the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP), including online stores.
“We will also develop a system to facilitate the reconciliation process for the use of the credit card, which is expected to make it easier for the Regional Apparatus Work Unit and regional development banks and BPD in monitoring and controlling the use of funds for operational expenses and business trips. Reconciliation systems and monitoring, of course, can also simplify and speed up the manufacturing process and accountability reports on the use of [funding] will then be forwarded to the BPD," he concluded.
Bank Sumut managing director Rahmat Fadillah Pohan, said in a follow-up that the collaboration between the Bank of North Sumatra and BNI would further enhance Bank Sumut’s innovation and services.
“For every company, it is important to collaborate with various parties in order to ensure value and progress. For Bank Sumut, collaboration with various parties can improve services, especially technology and network access to increase the value of Bank Sumut’s products," explained Rahmat.
