The field of medicine gains focus at the Selangor International Business Summit

his year’s Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) will be held on Oct. 6-9 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Hosted by the Selangor State Government and organized by Invest Selangor Berhad, the summit is guaranteed to bring together various events that cover multiple sectors of the economy.
“The return of the 6th edition of SIBS 2022 will be an opportunity to strengthen Selangor’s position as a competitive and preferred investment destination in Asia,” Selangor Exco for Industry and Trade, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, said in his speech at the official launch of the summit.
Similar to last year, when they were able to attract 25,410 visitors, the summit has garnered 70 percent registration to date out of 850 booths, of which 20 percent are from foreign investors. This is in line with the government’s plan to increase foreign investment in order to accelerate economic recovery amid challenges brought on by the pandemic and current affairs.
Continuing from the inaugural Selangor International Expo (Medic) 2021, the summit will once again provide an opportunity to bring together industry-leading players and experts under one unique platform. This exhibition offers industry players a chance to converge, interact and explore the latest technology, innovations and current business trends in the fields of medicine, life science, biotechnology and healthcare.
With a total of 80 booths, SIE Medic will be one of the biggest medical expos of the year and is expected to pave the way for the future of the healthcare industry. With the ever-changing landscape of science and its relation to the field of medicine, the SIE Medic is a platform to share, promote and introduce new innovations.
Attendees include experts from fields such as diagnostic, healthcare, pharmaceutical, hospital and rehabilitation-equipment-supplies industries. Those who attend will be able to gain access to 5,000 industry professionals exclusively invited for the event. Exciting activities include panels and forums by experts in the medical field, especially coming out of the pandemic.
Like last year, SIE Medic 2022 will be held as a hybrid event that combines online and offline platforms. This year, however, there is an added twist, with the exclusive hosted buyers’ program, an automated business-matching system to assist in maximizing one's potential business opportunities.
Coming out of the pandemic, the local Selangor government has published a five-year development plan, Rancangan Selangor Pertama- RS-1. The three factors of the plan include identifying high-growth sectors to be further developed, identifying new sectors that have high potential and strengthening key and strategic sectors. The latter includes life sciences.
SIBS 2022 will be a crucial part of Selangor’s economic-rebuilding process to reverse the effects of the global pandemic, and in extension, Malaysia as a whole.
