tate-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir has again encouraged red-plated companies to collaborate with each other to mitigate the effects of the Cianjur earthquake and help survivors. During his visit to the Medical and Trauma Healing center in Cianjur, Erick expressed hope that the victims would recover in due time.
Erick showed empathy for the evacuees. He also motivated SOE employees to work hand-in-hand to aid the evacuees.
“Thank you for all the hard work and the heartfelt service. Our presence is to ensure that we will always be on the front lines as a big family. And that we can provide the community with very real solutions,” Erick said in Cianjur on Friday.
The Trauma Healing Center itself is a collaboration between PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI and PT Bio Farma (Persero), PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI.
BNI and KNI set up infrastructure such as a children’s playground and sent in volunteers. Meanwhile, Biofarma and IHC supplied the center with medicines, health workers and ambulances. The center also aims to help evacuees navigate anxiety, panic and other mental health issues due to the earthquake.
BNI: Caring by sharing
BNI Corporate Secretary Okky Rushartomo explained that the company, as a state-owned bank, bore the responsibility of helping people in need. Through many of its programs, BNI Berbagi plays a proactive role in serving the country, especially during difficult times such as disasters.
“We express our deep condolences for victims of the earthquake. We hope they can quickly recover and rebuild their homes, as well as their lives,” he added.
The Trauma Center operates at Posko Bersama BUMN in Kampung Berenuk, Limbangsari village, Cianjur district, West Java. There are at least 250 families staying there.
BNI built the center with a children’s playground to hold trauma healing sessions with at least 100 children. Together with IHC, BNI helped them through educational games and activities.
The participating children were handed snacks and stuffed animals as gifts. BNI has also distributed aid in the form of rice, sugar, cooking oil, instant noodles, blankets, mukena (Muslim player cloaks for women) and even constructed wells to provide access to clean water.
BNI is also prepared to allocate a secondary wave of aid consisting of drinking water, instant noodles, canned sardines, cooking oil, cup noodles, sanitary pads and children’s diapers.
“As part of the SOE disaster task force, BNI moves quickly by establishing several disaster relief base camps to help victims in need of medical assistance, as well as a point of distribution for aid,” Okky concluded.
