T Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BNI) continuously encourages micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to improve their quality. One of the ways it does this is by accelerating the issuance of Business Identification Numbers (NIB) together with the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo asked MSME owners at every opportunity to obtain their NIB via the Online Single Submission (OSS) platform.
NIB is a business-owner identity issued by the OSS platform after the owner files for a registration. NIB is single permit for low-risk MSEs that also serves as a Company Registration Certificate (TDP), Importer Identification Number (API), customs access rights, the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and halal certification.
NIB is mandatory for business owners who wish to register their company’s licensing through OSS, regardless whether the company was established before or after the OSS operated.
“Another advantage of having an NIB is because the people’s credit [KUR] with its current interest rate of 3 percent has also been subsidized by the government until Dec. 31 due to the pandemic,” said Erick Thohir, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister in Lampung on Thursday. “This policy is implemented to stimulate the growth of micro enterprises in Indonesia,” he added.
“With more NIB-owning MSMEs, we hope that micro enterprises will be able to upscale quicker because legality is increasingly needed as a fundamental step before applying for bank loans,” added Ronny Venir, BNI network and services director.
Ronny added that NIBs are also the basis for MSMEs to join the SOEs ecosystem or larger private corporations. Furthermore, micro enterprises will be integrated into empowerment programs, including KUR.
Also present at the NIB issuance acceleration program was Chusnusia Chalim, Lampung deputy governor; Zulkifli Hasan, Trade Minister; Achmad Idrus, deputy of BKPM licensing services; in addition to the SOEs Minister and BNI director of network and services.
The NIB-related event in Lampung is a follow-up to the series of Acceleration of Distribution programs that have previously been held in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and Bandung, West Java. In Lampung, BNI was able to bring 100 MSMEs in to symbolically receive their NIBs via the OSS platform.
BNI will stay committed to quickening the issuance of NIB for BNI’s debtors from smaller segments in support of government programs, in which as many as 315,752 BNI debtors in the segment have obtained their NIBs.
The event in Lampung also included a session titled "Ease of Obtaining Halal Certificates for Individual MSEs” led by speakers from the Halal Certification Agency (BPJPH) and "Improving Micro and Small Businesses in the Digital Age" with team members from Grab Indonesia.
NIBs are expected to help MSEs obtain their permits online while also increasing their capabilities by making it easier to export products abroad. This is achievable through Xpora, one of BNI’s top products, enabling MSMEs to maximize their market overseas. BNI is ready to assist MSMEs as they upgrade their ranks among international players.
Currently, MSMEs hold a crucial position as one of the pillars of national economy as the country faces the threat of a global recession next year.
