T Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI won Best International and Localized DevPortal at the 2022 DevPortal Awards. Other nominees within the category included the Singaporean government’s Developer Portal, Plaid Docs from the United States and Developer Hub by the OLX Group from the Netherlands.
BNI was nominated in four categories: Operational Excellence – Best International and Localized Devportal, Developer Experience – Best Onboarding, Business Alignment – Best Served API Business Model and the Best Overall Dev Portal – Best Enterprise DevPortal.
Since 2022, BNI has been participating in the DevPortal Awards and achieved the Dev Portal Community Prize for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021.
“We appreciate [DevPortal] for granting us this award. This is proof of our commitment to continuing to develop application programming interface (API) technology to support the digital business ecosystem in Indonesia. With API technology, connectivity infrastructure is more affordable, more convenient and quicker to help us support micro, small and medium enterprises [MSMEs] in heading in a more digital direction,” said Okki Rushartomo, BNI corporate secretary.
The DevPortal Awards are international accolades that go to Best Developer Portals within several categories from every company in the world that utilizes API technology.
The winners are evaluated and selected by a team of independent judges consisting of experts with a long experience in API programming, developer portals and API documentation.
DevPortal Awards participants are improving every year. At the 2022 DevPortal Awards, there were 41 contestants including Mercedes, Visa, the Singaporean government, the British government, Chase, Kroger, Standard Chartered, Shell and more.
API is a key enabler in the digitalization of business ecosystems in the near feature. Therefore, API Portals, as the first touchpoint for prospective partners, must regularly be revamped.
Upgrades are done by the BNI team to increase the quality of BNI API Portals from time to time.
One of the ecosystems targeted by BNI with its API capabilities is the MSME ecosystem.
With API, the ecosystem can go digital with quicker and more affordable integration with the BNI system. MSMEs only need to use internet networks that are accessible everywhere without the need of conventional host-to-host models.
Furthermore, API integrations are more convenient as the message format has met Bank Indonesia’s (BI) National Standard Open API Payment (SNAP) standard. With the sandbox, MSME partners can choose to do a trial before finally being integrated into BNI’s system.
