T Smartfren Telecom Tbk. and Xingtera Inc. are joining forces to strengthen collaboration on 5G private networks to enhance digital transformation in Indonesia. The two companies entered an agreement earlier this month, on March 1, to build cooperation and achieve "Indonesia industry 4.0" by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The signing took place at the Qualcomm booth in the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.
Xingtera Inc. is a United States-based Artificial Intelligence of things (AIoT) solution provider and will be instrumental in offering IoT Verticals E2E solutions for Indonesia in the near future. The agreement stated the company was committed to support and develop IoT Solutions, AI applications, manufacturing automation, based on Qualcomm 5G, AI and IoT technologies
The strategic partnership will enhance Smartfren’s position as a leading Industrial 4.0 solutions provider in Indonesia with the ambition of utilizing advanced technologies to improve performance and productivity in multiple industry sectors.
“The collaboration will focus on introducing Qualcomm-based state-of-the-art technologies and Xingtera’s well-proven End2End cloud-native 5G system solutions with the intent of helping manufacturing companies in Indonesia to accelerate the promise of digital transformation and at the same time accelerating the pathways toward Making Indonesia 4.0.,” said Yuqing Niu, president and CEO of Xingtera Inc.
The partners both agreed the pilot project was the smart-port automation of Sinarmas-owned APP OKI Mill. Once the project is successfully implemented, the agreement has provisions to scale up automated operations at the OKI Mill factory and extend to other similar manufacturing sites.
Alim Gunadi, CEO of Smartfren Business, stated their focus was on creating innovative technologies in terms of automation by developing 5G technology for companies and small and midsize businesses (SMB). He added the collaboration and the start of the OKI Mill APP project was the first step for automated operations, so as to increase performance and productivity for other companies.
The statement is further echoed by Shannedy Ong, country director of Qualcomm Indonesia, who stated the technologies would pave the way for all SMBs and large enterprises to leapfrog to full automation as part of the digital-transformation initiative.
"Xingtera, as a global AIoT solution provider, is excited to contribute our field-tested solutionS and expertise to the revitalization of the Indonesian industry to attain the goal of Indonesia 4.0. We are looking forward to working with Smartfren to kick off the OKI Mill project together,” concluded Yuqing Niu.
