Kominfo launches 24-hour media center during 43rd ASEAN summit

he Ministry of Communications and Informatics(Kominfo) has opened registration for media wishing to cover the 43rd ASEAN Summit, which will be held in Jakarta from Sept. 5-7.

"Registration will close on Aug. 25. Media that have registered or completed the registration process will be able to collect their respective ID badges at the media center," said Usman Kansong, the Director General of Public Information and Communications at Kominfo.

Kominfo has established the media center for the 43rd ASEAN Summit. It is located at the venue of the summit, Exhibition Hall B JCC Jakarta. This media center has a capacity of up to 2,500 people and will operate from Sept. 2-8.

"The media center will operate 24 hours to meet the coverage needs of fellow media colleagues," said Usman.

To support the work of journalists, Kominfo has also provided a Telkom internet network with 240 LAN workstations featuring a dedicated 1.5 gigabyte per second (Gbps) connection; dedicated international broadcast center distribution; 10 15-square-meter media partner office booths; audio-video editing booths; one-on-one studios; multi-format broadcast conversion; media briefing rooms; press conference rooms with a capacity of 300 people with five interpreters; two stand-up positions plus webcast/live streaming; media lounges; medical lockers and storage facilities; publication and distribution desks; photocopy and stationery corners; several TV monitors; shuttle buses; and several lots for satellite news gathering (SNG).

Kominfo's media center will also prepare releases in two languages, photo and video packs in two languages, clean feed broadcasts, bulletins, press briefings and journalist technical guidelines.
