ertamina expresses its appreciation to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) for consistently uncovering and taking firm action against the misuse and abuse of subsidized fuels and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
This was conveyed by Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati to Bareskrim Director of Specific Criminal Acts Brigadier General Pol. Drs. Hersadwi Rusdiyono, S.H., M.H., at Grha Pertamina Jakarta on Oct. 4, 2023.
Nicke explained that Pertamina expresses gratitude and appreciation to the Bareskrim POLRI team for their support in the subsidized fuel and LPG distribution process by uncovering and addressing numerous irregularities in the field.
“The disclosure and enforcement of [laws against] the misuse of subsidized fuels and LPG have successfully reduced irregularities and saved the country's finances in the form of subsidies. At the same time, we are sending a deterrent, and we want to ensure that all subsidized fuels and LPG are genuinely enjoyed by those entitled, namely, the less fortunate, farmers, fishermen and SMEs [small and medium enterprises],” Nicke stated.
In the last six months, Bareskrim has successfully seized evidence of subsidized “Solar” diesel fuel totaling 717,850 liters, Pertalite fuel totaling 501,730 liters and subsidized LPG totaling 118,504 cylinders.
According to Nicke, the collaboration between Pertamina and Bareskrim POLRI has been going well. Pertamina hopes that this synergy will continue in the handling of subsidized fuel and LPG misuse.
“We are truly grateful for the support provided by Bareskrim. This is the work of the task force that never stops because this energy must always be provided. Thank you to Bareskrim for all its support, and we remain hopeful and committed to continuing our cooperation in uncovering [subsidy misuse and abuse] and later acting on it,” Nicke explained.
Hersadwi expressed his gratitude to Pertamina for collaborating with the Bareskrim POLRI Special Task Force. This hard work involved not only Bareskrim POLRI, but also the regional police, district police and sub-district police.
“This is a collaborative effort between Pertamina, Bareskrim POLRI and regional police in securing government subsidies, especially for LPG and fuel. We have established a task force to enforce the law regarding the misuse of fuel subsidies,” he said.
He explained that in the last six months, there have been 406 police reports, 338 of which are still under investigation, and a total of 435 individuals have been designated as suspects. For the subsidized “Solar” diesel fuel, there have been 218 investigation reports with 286 suspects. Pertalite fuel has seen 80 police reports, with 94 individuals becoming suspects. Meanwhile, there have been 40 police reports for subsidized LPG, resulting in 50 individuals being designated as suspects.
“Whether it's for Java, Kalimantan, Sumatra, Sulawesi or Papua, there have been enforcement actions. This means that we carry out these actions with the hope that those who are currently engaged in such activities will not repeat them. Of course, addressing the issue of subsidy misuse is our priority, and we will continue to enforce the law. Our goal is to ensure that subsidized fuel and LPG reach those who are eligible,” he added.
