Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) returns for its 10th anniversary event

T

his year, the largest and the most integrated annual sharia economic and finance event, the Indonesian Sharia Economic Festival 2023 (ISEF 2023), is celebrating its 10-year anniversary from Oct. 25 to 29 at the Jakarta Convention Center.

For this iteration, the event has expanded its collaborations with both domestic and international parties. One example of its expansion is its partnership with Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), which is meant to communicate or promote ISEF to potential buyers who are visiting TEI. Additionally, ISEF 2023 will house the Indonesia Halal Expo (HEI), which is the biggest halal food and beverage industry showcase event and which overlaps with much of the audience attending ISEF 2023. It is also worth noting that this event is hosting the Indonesia Halal Chef Competition, the first ever international halal chef competition in the world.

Moreover, the Indonesia International Modest Fashion Festival (IN2MF) will also be running concurrently as the HEI at the ISEF. A sustainable, fashion-centric festival, the IN2MF event will showcase over 174 fashion designers, featuring both international and local Indonesian brands.

With over 57 activities planned in the event agenda and over 1,100 partners, this edition of the ISEF is designed to align with Indonesia’s presidency of this year’s ASEAN summit. Making the event more inclusive and boosting its efforts to raise public awareness about sharia economics and finance.

Being a considerable contributor to accelerating the momentum of Indonesia’s economic recovery, support for Islamic financing, both for Islamic banking and non-banking financing, needs to be continually supported. This is the catalyst as to why Bank Indonesia (BI), the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK), the National Committee on Islamic Economics and Finance (KNEKS) and the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) are in support of ISEF 2023.

With Islamic banking consistently experiencing growth, having a market share trend in the national banking industry positioned regularly at above 7%, ISEF 2023 can very well critically capture the momentum of this trend and drive customer interest toward Islamic banking and finance.
