Pertamina invites young people to join SEB program

P

ertamina has invited young people to mitigate climate change from an early age through the Independent Energy School (SEB) corporate social and environmental responsibility (CSER) program. This initiative aligns with the government's efforts to address climate change.

Pertamina seeks to support Adiwiyata Schools, which are schools that are awarded for promoting environmental awareness and conservation, through the program.

The program involves various activities aimed at encouraging the younger generation to be more environmentally conscious. Those activities include planting trees, turning waste into products of value and educating students on clean energy use for environmental innovation at school.

The program also encourages Pertamina Young Officers and Earth's Friends college students to play a role in knowledge campaigning and sharing sessions with students. The hope is that these students will be able to implement Pertamina's Earth's Friends campaigns and actions in the future.

"Pertamina has chosen correctly in opting to collaborate with SMK Merdeka Bandung to implement this environmental campaign. We have a student activity unit with young talent dedicated to the environment, such as Kenzo. With Pertamina's assistance in implementing clean energy through a solar power plant, we hope to develop the talent and innovations of our students," Wahidin Bandung Education Foundation chairman Maman Suryaman said.

"Through this program, we aim to promote the creation of a cleaner and healthier environment, as well as encouraging youth to innovate through the use of renewable energy at school," said Pertamina vice president for corporate communications Fadjar Djoko Santoso.

Fajar added that the implementation of this program is in line with Pertamina's commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles as well as Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on quality education, SDG 7 on clean and affordable energy, along with SDG 13 on climate action.
