Pertamina and POLRI discover illegal subsidized fuel warehouse in Pati

P

ertamina and law enforcement authorities have once again uncovered activities at an illegal fuel storage warehouse, this time in Pati Regency, Central Java. The warehouse was suspected to be used to hoard and redistribute Solar, Pertamina’s subsidized diesel product. This was discovered during a raid conducted on Oct. 6, 2023.

"Pertamina and a team from the headquarters of the Indonesian National Police’s (POLRI) Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) had previously conducted mapping and investigation before ultimately carrying out the raid," Pertamina Vice President Corporate Communication Fadjar Djoko Santoso stated.

Several pieces of evidence were found during the raid, including three fuel tank trucks each with a capacity of eight kiloliters (kl), two pump engines, two pick-up trucks and a minibus that had been modified to house a 1 kl capacity tank.

"From these findings, we have handed over the case to the police for further action, including all the evidence which has also been submitted to the Pati Resort Police Force (Polres)," Fadjar added.

Pertamina will continue to collaborate with law enforcement authorities to uncover and address attempts to misuse subsidized fuels. "[We give our] appreciation to the police who continue to collaborate with us [Pertamina] to ensure that the distribution of subsidized fuel is not misused and reaches the intended target of communities in need," Fadjar concluded.

As a leading company in the energy transition, Pertamina is committed to supporting Indonesia’s goal of net zero emissions (NZE) by 2060 by continually promoting programs that directly impact the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All these efforts are in line with the implementation of environmental, social and Governance (ESG) principles across all of Pertamina's business lines and operations.
