ertamina continues to demonstrate tangible actions in preparing the younger generation to be environmentally conscious, with initiatives like the Pertamina Energy Independent School (SEB) program. The program was run in collaboration with Pertamina’s refining and petrochemical subholding PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) RU IV Cilacap at state high school SMA 3 Cilacap on Nov. 8.

The SEB program, which had "Energizing a sustainable community" as its theme, aimed to support school involvement and engage the younger generation in environmental sustainability. Additionally, it encouraged students to have a greater impact on the surrounding community through education and the use of renewable energy.

KPI RU IV Cilacap general support manager Dian Puspita Rini said the SEB program aligned with Pertamina's efforts to support the Environment and Forestry Ministry in implementing Adiwiyata values.

"This [the SEB program] is also in line with our commitment to implementing ESG [environmental, social, and governance] policies and Sustainable Development Goals [SDGs], specifically SDG 4 on quality education, 7 on clean and affordable energy, and 13 on climate action," she explained.

Pertamina assisted in the installation of solar panels as realization of its support for the SEB. "Through this initiative [the SEB program], students will be educated about renewable energy. Additionally, the solar panels are expected to create a better environment in the school," said Dian.

Several officials also visited the school's mangrove laboratory and participated in tree planting.

In addition, a sharing session was organized by Presidential Special Staff for Education and Innovation and Indonesia's ambassador for SDGs Billy Mambrasar. The sharing session also included presentations by Cilacap Refinery officials who brought various topics to the classrooms.

The SEB series of activities also involved many students from SMA 3 Cilacap, especially the Upcycling Competition Expo. This Pertamina event encouraged students to innovate and create tools in the spirit of environmental sustainability through recycling activities.

The event was attended by acting Pertamina CSR manager Reno Fri Daryanto; KPI RU IV Cilacap area manager for CSR, communications and relations Cecep Supriatna, Cilacap Environmental Agency head Sri Murniyati, Pertamina New & Renewable Energy team member Suarni Landuma, and Wisny Ayusmi from Pertamedika IHC.
