ertamina Eco RunFest 2023 is set to be joined by nearly 20,000 participants, including runners and festival attendees. There are four categories of running activities for the event, which arethe Family Run 1.5K for ages 7-12, the Fun Run 5K for ages 13 and above; the 10K Race for students aged 13-16, general participants aged 17-44, masters aged 45 and above and a Half Marathon 21K for ages 13-44, general participants and masters aged 45 and above.
Pertamina Corporate Communication VP Fadjar Djoko Santoso stated that 2023 marks the 10th year of Pertamina organizing Eco Run activities, reintroducing the concept of sustainable living across generations by inspiring and educating the public about an eco-friendly lifestyle.
"The greatest appreciation [from Pertamina] is given to all the runners and festival participants who have registered through the MyPertamina application [for Pertamina Eco RunFest 2023]. In commemoration for the 10th year of this event, with all tickets sold out for an unexpectedly high turnout. With a total of 10,000 runners for the Eco Run and 8,500 participants for the Eco Fest," Fadjar said.
He also added that the Pertamina Eco RunFest 2023 will continue to campaign for public awareness about the importance of a healthy, green and sustainable environment. Utilizing waste as a high-value economic resource, reducing plastic waste and protecting the earth from further global warming through positive habits that are aimed at providing a legacy for future generations.
"Pertamina has also embarked on the energy transition and decarbonization for the sustainability of the Earth. Despite various challenges, Pertamina remains committed to implementing these programs to achieve net-zero emissions (NZE)," Fadjar emphasized.
The theme for Pertamina Eco RunFest 2023 is Energizing Your Move. In the spirit of this, Pertamina will continue to campaign for positive steps for the Earth's well-being through the concept of sustainable living. This concept promotes a sustainable lifestyle that is more environmentally conscious, encouraging people to change their behaviors for the good of the Earth and raising awareness among those around them, starting from their families, to contribute together for the future of the Earth and our descendants.
"The future of the Earth and sustainable living can be achieved through collaboration, starting with simple actions such as reducing plastic waste, utilizing organic and non-organic waste to create high-value products, planting more trees, reducing waste burning in local communities and using environmentally friendly energy," Fadjar explained.
The 10th Pertamina Eco RunFest will be held at Istora Senayan in Jakarta on Nov. 26, 2023. Pertamina has allocated total prizes of more than Rp 500 million (US$32,355) for the event, and all Pertamina Eco Run participants have the chance to win door prizes worth hundreds of millions of rupiah.
