BRGM achieves Informative Public Body title from KIP 2023

he Peat and Mangrove Restoration Agency (BRGM) has been honored as an Informative Public Body in the Non-Structural Institution category by the Central Information Commission (KIP) at the 2023 Public Information Openness Awards. The event was attended by Vice President Ma’aruf Amin and Chairman of the Central Information Commission Donny Yoesgiantoro at the Presidential Palace, on Dec. 19 in Jakarta.
Donny stated, "This year's monitoring and evaluation activities were carried out on 369 public bodies from all categories, including ministries, state institutions, non-ministerial government agencies, non-structural government agencies, state-owned enterprises, state universities and political parties." He added, "The number of public bodies receiving the informative predicate has significantly increased compared to last year, when only 122 out of 372 institutions received the Informative Public Body award. This year, 369 institutions participated in the 2023 Public Information Openness Awards. Out of these, 139 received the Informative Public Body award, 43 are moving toward being informative, 13 are sufficiently informative, 27 are less informative and 147 are not informative. Awarding the informative public body predicate to 139 institutions has exceeded the target of the National Medium-Term Development Plan related to informative public bodies."
The Informative Public Body predicate received by BRGM is an achievement for the various parties that contributed to the efforts to reach the status. It is not an easy process to obtain the Informative Public Body title. In 2021, BRGM was still categorized as moving toward being informative. Since 2022, BRGM has received the Informative Public Body award, the highest category in the awards for public information openness. This achievement has been successfully maintained this year.
“We thank the Central Information Commission for organizing this award event. This is beyond our expectations and is a pride for us to receive the award as an Informative Public Body in the Non-Structural Institution category. Certainly, this becomes our spirit to maintain and improve our value as an Informative Public Body on the next occasion," said BRGM Cooperation, Legal and Public Relations Working Group head Didy Wurjanto.
Ma'ruf stated, “Public Information Openness is an essential element in realizing good governance and is also one of the determinants of the success of bureaucratic reform programs. In addition, I also believe that information transparency is the path to nurturing democracy, whose ultimate goal is to improve the welfare of the people. I hope that the Central Information Commission continues to encourage public bodies that are not yet informative to improve their performance,” he added.
