ndonesia’s largest private lender, Bank Central Asia (BCA), has reported double-digit growth in almost all credit segments so far this year.
BCA and subsidiaries posted an increase of 12.3 percent year-on-year (yoy) to Rp 766.1 trillion in total credit issued during the first nine months of this year.
Credit for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) saw the highest growth rate at 16.4 percent yoy to Rp 104.8 trillion (US$6.61 billion) so far this year, as of September.
That is followed by corporate credit, home ownership credit (KPR) and commercial credit, which recorded annual increases of 12.2 percent, 11.5 percent and 6.5 percent to Rp 343.5 trillion, Rp 117.9 trillion and Rp 121 trillion, respectively.
BCA CEO Jahja Setiaatmadja said on Thursday that credit volume growth in all segments was due to a consistent improvement in loan quality and an increase in transaction and funding volumes.
“We see that demand for consumer credit is still solid,” he said in a virtual press briefing on Thursday.
The outstanding balance of credit cards and individual loans grew 15.3 percent yoy to Rp 15 trillion, while the total consumer credit portfolio rose 14.4 percent yoy to Rp 189.6 trillion.
