P

resident Prabowo Subianto met Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in Prague on Tuesday during a brief transit stop en route to Russia, underscoring both nations’ commitment to deepening bilateral relations.

The encounter took place at the hotel where President Prabowo was staying, where the two leaders held “a warm and cordial discussion”, according to a press release by the Presidential Secretariat.

Prime Minister Fiala was warmly received by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya before joining President Prabowo.

Expressing gratitude for Prabowo’s visit, Prime Minister Fiala said, “I remember my visit to Indonesia two years ago. It was a memorable experience.”

The remark reflected the ongoing goodwill and positive relations shared between the two countries.

President Prabowo reciprocated the appreciation, emphasizing his hope that bilateral ties would continue to grow stronger in the years ahead.

Prabowo is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday to talk about security, trade and the economy during their first official bilateral engagement.

The meeting is expected to produce several agreements, including cooperation in transportation, higher education and the creative economy.

Prabowo’s visit to Russia has drawn considerable attention, especially given that it has come at the cost of an unfulfilled invitation to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada on Tuesday. (yrc)
