outheast Asia’s largest and fastest-growing household retail industry leader, MR.DIY, was recognized as a record holder within the Indonesia World Records Museum (MURI) on Nov. 9th, 2024.
By successfully involving over 1,106 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) participants from across 38 provinces in Indonesia, MR. DIY achieved the record of holding a Hybrid MSME Digitalization Training Program that is joined by the most number of provinces in the country. Highlighting MR.DIY’s commitment to empowering and supporting Indonesia’s economic growth.
The initiative itself is a crystallization of MR.DIY’s growth since first entering Indonesia in 2017. Building upon the momentum they have from opening 500 stores in the past two years in the country, totaling 900 stores in Indonesia.
Additionally, MR.DIY Indonesia’s stores typically offer around 18,000 distinct products, including more than 20% local MSME products.
MR.DIY Indonesia President Director Edwin Cheah said the following after receiving the recognition:
“We are delighted and proud to facilitate Indonesian MSMEs in their growth journey by embracing digital transformation. The enthusiasm from MSMEs across Indonesia motivates us to grow alongside the community.”
Edwin added that the training MR.DIY facilitates reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable national growth, aiming to benefit Indonesian society and create long-term value for the country.
MURI senior customer relations manager Andre Purwandono added, “MURI is proud to award MR.DIY for their initiative in organizing the hybrid digitalization training for MSMEs involving the most provinces. This achievement cements their dedication to provide crucial access to digital knowledge and skills in today’s age for MSMEs nationwide. We hope that this initiative can inspire more companies to actively support local business communities and advance Indonesia’s economy.”
MR.DIY’s mission of inclusivity is highlighted by the participation of MSME’s from every Indonesian province, also aligning with the company’s strategy to expand access, resources and growth opportunities across the country.
Their hybrid training program, titled “MR.DIY Ada Aja Idenya: Digitalization for MSMEs to Elevate Their Business”, featured key industry figures as well as digital experts who openly shared their insights regarding business development.
Notable speakers include: Homeliving owner Queenza Winazar, Asep Mulyadi and Kami Idea owner Istafiana Candarini, all of whom grew their business through partnering with MR.DIY.
Additionally, participants received tips on digital marketing from MR.DIY Indonesia’s very own Head of Marketing, Ria Sutrisno, and digital consultant Patrick Rimba, as well as education on digital banking from EBB Liabilities & Fee Income Product and Performance Head at CIMB Niaga, Yunita Chandrawati.
Regarding the training itself, an online participant and member of the Sahabat UMKM community from Padang, Galih, shared:
“This event is excellent because it engages MSMEs and motivates us to keep innovating and striving to meet modern consumer standards. The knowledge on business digitalization was presented in an engaging and enjoyable way, making it easy to apply to our businesses.”
He added that he hopes MR.DIY will continue its support of MSMEs, perhaps by providing broader collaboration opportunities so that local MSME products can access global markets.
“Achieving this new record is concrete proof of MR.DIY’s commitment to contributing to society. This recognition inspires us to consistently deliver meaningful initiatives for communities across Indonesia,” Edwin said concluding their inauguration.
