Prodia OHI Raises Awareness of Water Safety

P

rodia Occupational Health Indonesia (Prodia OHI), continuously striving to play an active role in promoting preventive efforts for improving public health, held the third part of the POHI PROVEN webinar series on Thursday through online media. The webinar was entitled “Water Safety & Quality for Our Health.”

"The choice of this theme is not without reason, because Prodia OHI sees the huge role of water in the continuation of human life. The safety and quality of the water that we use and consume is of course very important to be considered and maintained by all parties,” said Marissa Apriyeni, manager of Prodia Food Health Laboratory in her speech.

The event followed the first and second parts of the series that were held in July, titled "Early Detection and Prevention of Infectious Diseases in Workers" and "Dyspepsia in Workers - things we should know”, respectively.

Prodia OHI is a health service provider that focuses on occupational health, work environment, and food safety. This series of webinars is part of the company's commitment to providing access to relevant health information to the public, especially to prevent future health problems.

.

Participants had the opportunity to hear from experts in the field, including I Made Partiana, SKM, M.Sc, associate expert occupational health advisor at the Bali Health Agency; Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nengah Kencana Putra, MS food technology expert from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Udayana University; and Prof. Drs. Bambang Wispriyono, Apt., Ph.D., from the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia.

Bambang advised the public to be wise in managing water and revealed that access to safe drinking water in Indonesia is relatively low, at under 20 percent. He added that it was a collective duty to improve this, which must be taken up by all members of the public. "As individuals who use water, we must be environmentally friendly by preserving the environment, caring for ourselves and our families by not consuming water that contains contaminants, providers that provide and treat water should provide safe water for the community,” he said.

Nengah said the quality of water used in the processing of food products, both in the process of washing food ingredients, as raw material and water used in cooking processes such as boiling food, must be of good and safe quality, equivalent to the quality of drinking water so that the food produced is safe when consumed by the public and does not cause health problems in the future.

.

Made from the Bali Health Agency said the government was committed to maintaining public health by conducting periodic sampling tests in order to ensure the water used by the community, especially by businesses and the tourist sector, meets the health requirements and is safe from contamination.

The Food Health Laboratory (FHL) in Bali is one of the service units of Prodia OHI and continuously offers public health laboratory services with a focus on food safety including water safety and quality. In 2022, Prodia FHL was recognized as an ISO 17025-accredited testing laboratory.

"Our hope is that Prodia FHL can become a food safety laboratory center that can support activities in the F&B, tourism, and FMCG industries, as well as other business fields such as offices, housing, canteens/catering, MSMEs, and the general public who need food and water testing in Indonesia, especially in the eastern part of Indonesia,” Marissa said.

Prodia FHL is located at Jl. Danau Buyan No. 10, Sanur, provides services in the form of microbiological and chemical tests for food and water quality, as well as nutrition facts testing. Chemical tests are performed to determine the levels of chemical contaminants such as heavy metals, and inorganic chemicals to ensure chemical levels do not exceed the government regulations. Prodia FHL is providing a 17 percent discount promo from Aug. 14 to Sept. 30.
