ampaign, the start-up behind the social campaign app Campaign #ForABetterWorld, has contributed to Indonesia’s education by making improvements to ill-equipped schools.
From December 2022 to May 2023, Campaign launched the #GembiraBangunSekolah (#happybuildingschools) campaign with Happy Hearts Indonesia, a local nonprofit organization that focuses on education.
Launched on the Campaign #ForABetterWorld app, the campaign succeeded in inviting 1,776 people to support children's education in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) with a total donation of Rp 73.1 million (US$4,651), collected by Yayasan Dunia Lebih Baik, the charity arm of Campaign.
The donations were allocated entirely for the development and improvement of educational infrastructure at early childhood education (PAUD) center Tunas Daud in Sumba, NTT.
Established in 2018, the children's learning facility was previously an emergency building with a simple structure of bamboo walls and dirt floors. Facilities were limited, with only tables and chairs that were no longer suitable for use.
Through to the #GembiraBangunSchool campaign, this building was transformed into a safer and more comfortable learning environment for the 61 children who attend school there.
Yani Sinulingga, head of Marketing and Communication at Happy Hearts Indonesia, said the funds obtained from the #GembiraBangunSekolah campaign were allocated to finance construction, children's games, murals, sinks and other equipment.
"This campaign is a form of active contribution from the community in supporting the future of Indonesian children's education. All donations collected will be used by Happy Hearts Indonesia to support activities and programs in providing learning facilities for children in need,” she said.
"With this campaign, our hope is that more children in Indonesia will have access to quality education in a safe environment."
Previously, this campaign was carried out by simply uploading a photo of a heart-shaped hand on the Campaign #ForABetterWorld app as a form of support for children to obtain a proper education, accompanied by a caption containing a message for education in the country.
Campaign Outreach manager Avicenna Fikri added that the platform was very happy to be able to collaborate with communities that care about education in the country, such as Happy Hearts Indonesia.
"Hopefully communities and social organizations like this can grow more and more in Indonesia so that we can make a bigger impact in making children enjoy the same luxury: access to a decent education," he concluded.
The campaign, through its Campaign #ForABetterWorld app, offers a digital platform while building a social movement that invites users to actively contribute to addressing social issues.
Every challenge that users successfully complete on the application is converted into donations and distributed to communities in need, and every activity has a direct impact on improving the quality of education and other social issues in Indonesia.
