Syrco BASE announces new series of culinary collaborations, titled COLLECTION I

S

trategically housed in North Ubud, Bali, and led by acclaimed two Michelin-starred chef Syrco Bakker, Syrco BASÈ has quickly become a prominent fixture in Indonesia’s culinary scene just two months after its grand opening.

With a skilled multicultural team comprising chefs, sommeliers, mixologists, architects, artists and designers, chef Syrco champions respectful partnerships with suppliers and proper fostering of strong ties with local communities across the culinary hub’s five distinct areas.

Aligning with this ethos and embracing the spirit of collaboration, Syrco BASÈ is proud to introduce its inaugural series of local and international collaborative events under the banner of “COLLECTION I”.

Commencing on March 26, with an exclusive evening event presented by Syrco BASÈ Bar’s team at Bali’s renowned beach club and sustainability pioneer, Potato Head, guests were treated to a showcase of innovative Indonesian mixology and excellence in hospitality. Set against the backdrop of lush rice fields, Syrco BASÈ’s guests experienced sustainable cocktail creations, which were paired with indigenous-inspired ingredients sourced directly from Syrco BASÈ’s very own garden. In parallel to this, guests were also treated to live music.

The next event in the series is scheduled for April 4, where Syrco will collaborate with fellow two Michelin-starred chef, Nick Bril, who hails from The Jane in Antwerp, Belgium. Placing at 39th place on the Michelin Guide’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 list, The Jane is lauded for its sophisticated culinary artistry. Following a visit to a local permaculture garden and wild food foraging expedition, the two chefs will curate an exclusive culinary experience at Syrco BASÈ Ku, offering an immersive journey for a maximum of 12 guests.

Also planned for the event is a special demonstration by Nick, where he will be showcasing both his culinary prowess and musical talents at Syrco BASÈ Bar. Besides his decorated career as a chef, Nick has also established a reputable identity as a DJ, playing up to 50 sets at major festivals in Belgium and internationally annually. Presenting a specially crafted menu alongside the resident team, this set of dishes will offer guests exceptional bar food and cocktails, alongside Nick’s deck of tunes.

Following this event, COLLECTION I continues on April 17, which focuses on celebrating Bali’s vibrant cocktail culture. Featuring four esteemed local mixologists from distinguished establishments like Aperitif, represented by Panji Wisrawan, Mozaic, represented by Billy Wirawan, and Night Rooster, represented by Esy Triana,  alongside Syrco BASÈ’s very own bar supervisor, Arya Dharmayasa, this event will highlight Indonesia’s rich diversity of native ingredients and traditional fermentation technique, presented via innovative cocktail concoctions.

Capping off the collaboration series, Syrco BASÈ will join forces with the creative minds behind Singapore’s Stay Gold Flamingo, on May 28. Known for their unique spin on cocktail craftsmanship and culinary artistry, Stay Gold Flamingo’s founder, Jerrold Khoo and head chef, Joanne Sakai, will be visiting Bali to deliver a dynamic fusion of Japanese-American mixology and bold Philippine flavors,

“As a chef, investing in collaborations isn't just about creating exceptional dishes and drinks; it's about forging and strengthening bonds among our entire hospitality community,” said Syrco.

“Through the Collection I events, we're celebrating the region’s rich tapestry of ingredients, traditions and innovations, while supporting and amplifying the talents of our fellow artisans. These collaborations are all about recognizing that our shared passion for hospitality extends beyond individual kitchens, it's a commitment to elevating the entire industry, one partnership at a time,” he added.

Syrco emphasizes the significance of these collaborations, not only in creating exceptional culinary experiences but also in nurturing a sense of community and mutual support within the hospitality industry. The Collection I events celebrate the region’s diverse culinary heritage, innovation and talent, reflecting a shared commitment to elevating the industry through meaningful partnerships and shared passion for hospitality excellence.
