onjoined twins sharing a single heart, who had been receiving intensive care at Adam Malik General Central Hospital in Medan, North Sumatra, died on Monday.

The babies, both male, Hasan and Husin, were born on Feb. 2 and were treated at the hospital after suffering from a gastrointestinal injury.

The hospital’s medical team decided to postpone a separation operation due to complications.

Hospital spokesperson Rossario Dorothy said the twins’ conditions had been deteriorating.

“They died at 9:55 [a.m.] at the perinatology care unit,” Rossario told The Jakarta Post on Monday afternoon.

Rossario said the family had taken their remains to be buried at their hometown in Batubara regency in South Sumatra.
