Facebook is reaching out to younger generations once more by introducing a new feature called Lifestage.
emember when you were younger and using Facebook to connect with others — way before the time of Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and posting cringeworthy statuses? In embracing the ever-developing social media world, we moved on to other platforms, and Facebook has arguably been used more by adults in recent years.
Now, Facebook is reaching out to younger generations once more by introducing a new feature called Lifestage. Similar to Snapchat’s stories, users can post what they like, dislike, things that reflect the friendships and so on, through photos and videos.

Lifestage fills the screen with bright colors and cute designs, but interestingly this feature has an age restriction. Those aged 22 or older cannot see Lifestage events posted by users, as stated by AndroidAuthority. On top of that, all posts are made public to a user’s Facebook friends who are 21 and under. Although posts do not expire within 24 hours, they do get replaced if others post in the same “mood” category, such as someone’s “likes” and “dislikes”.
Lifestage’s launch is part of Facebook’s efforts to develop video-based services. The app is currently available for iOS devices, but there is no news yet on the release for Android users. (kha/kes)
