fter a series of six 15-second teasers, a full-length trailer has finally been released for the anticipated live-action adaptation of “Ghost in the Shell.”

From Paramount Pictures’ official channel, the reactions are surprisingly mostly positive or at least are now willing to give the movie a chance. There are still some detractors who refer to Hollywood “whitewashing” and make mention of their preferred actress of Japanese ethnicity.

Some fans of the Ghost in the Shell franchise would then counter that Motoko Kusanagi, or ‘The Major’ in the adaptation, is implied to be of foreign descent in the original source material. At the very least some would argue that she was a cyborg in the first place and could be made to look whatever in the future where technology allows humans to look however they want.

In the end, whether the movie will be a success or a failure will depend on reviews after it has hit theaters in 2017.

Below is the trailer posted on Paramount’s channel.
