Officially launched on Thursday, Super Mario Run is said to consume a lot of internet data.

According to Kompas.com, the game consumes 40 megabytes to 60 MB of internet data per hour, which equals 180 MB for a three hour game. If users play the game for three hours per day, it could consume up to 1.2 gigabytes per week.

Prior to the launch, the game creator Shigure Miyamoto had warned that Super Mario Run requires a strong internet connection to prevent users for downloading the game for free. Unlike other games, Super Mario Run asks users to pay US$9.99 for full access. The offline version was said to create piracy risks.

Within a few days, Super Mario Run had been downloaded 2.85 million times. Currently, the game is only available for iOS devices. (asw)
