ating website-cum-application AyoPoligami (Let’s do Polygamy) previously caught netizens’ attention because of its polygamy-related nature. However, after discovering that the service was being misused, the founder, Lindu Cipta Pranayama, decided to temporarily close the app.
The new version of AyoPoligami was officially re-launched on Thursday with a stricter security process to avoid fake accounts as well as sex chats.
Lindu told The Jakarta Post by phone on Friday that there were around 3,000 people registering to the website per day, but not all could provide the requested documents, such as a valid identification card and a letter of permission from their first wife.
“Only 1 out of 100 accounts sent us [a valid identification card],” said Lindu, adding that he was manually verifying the information.
Unlike other dating websites, AyoPoligami provides an online taaruf—an Islamic process through which couples get to know each other. The members are required to arrange a meeting within one week and dating is prohibited.

On the website, AyoPoligami members can check other member's profiles or physical characteristics. As for photos, members may ask, but are not required to provide them.
“They can chat, but the message needs to contain a proposal to do taaruf,” explained Lindu.
If both parties agree to do taaruf, he will invite them to a Telegram group, consisting of three members: the potential wife, the husband and Lindu as matchmaker. Here, Lindu will help the woman ask questions to the man related to his job, salary, dowry and more.
Lindu stated that AyoPoligami was designed for those looking for a serious relationship. Hence, if the members do not arrange a meeting within one week, he said it was better for them to look for other potential partners.
Currently, AyoPoligami is only available in Bahasa Indonesia, however, Lindu shared his plans to offer the app and website in several languages. (kes)
