amiliar faces such as Mike, Will, Eleven and the rest of the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things” gang might not come back until 2019.
In an interview with Variety, actor David Harbour who plays Hawkins chief sheriff Jim Hopper, said on Friday that the third season might come a little later than expected as the Duffer brothers, who created the series, are still yet to write the script.
“I mean one of the things that’s annoying for fans is that it takes us a long time to do them. Like you probably won’t get it till sometime in 2019,” Harbour said. Likewise, he saw the benefit of the longevity of the preparation, which can produce a script that comes out as better.
"And those guys [writers] work so hard. I mean, they just sit in their apartment and write for 12, 14 hours a day. And the scripts are so sophisticated, but that only comes with time,” Harbour explained. “So the more time they take, the better the scripts are.”

The actor also talked about how he compared season one “Stranger Things” from season two, describing them as great individual pieces of their own.
"I certainly felt when I watched the show all put together in the first season that it was something really special and it was something that it was just of a piece. It could’ve ended there,” he said.
Harbour also noted how some fans thought that the first season was better than its successor, or vice versa, citing how he liked Star Wars’ “The Empire Strikes Back” better than “A New Hope”. “But [they’re] both sort of great pieces in and of themselves,” he concluded.
Season two of “Stranger Things” premiered in November, earning positive reviews from critics, much like the show’s first season.
