ctress and singer Liza Minnelli, who is also the daughter of Hollywood screen legend Judy Garland, denounced rumors that claimed she was in favor of an upcoming biopic based on the life of her mother, titled Judy.

She was reportedly responding to rumors that she and Renée Zellweger, the film's star, have been "bonding" ahead of production, as reported by The Independent.

Minnelli, the daughter of Garland with director Vincente Minnelli, took to Facebook to write: “I have never met nor spoken to Renée Zellweger [...] I don’t know how these stories get started, but I do not approve nor sanction the upcoming film about Judy Garland in any way.”

Judy is financed by BBC Films and directed by Tony nominee Rupert Gold.

The film itself will focus on Garland’s career and personal life during the sold-out Talk of the Town shows in 1969 that led to her accidental overdose. (sul/wng)
