Meghan Markle has been revealed as the first royal to be nominated for a Choice Style Icon award at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards.
It is quite unsurprising given Markle’s track record. Already an icon, she is known for her fashion choices, which when replicated immediately sell out. Even the wedding dress she wore when she married Prince Harry in May caused its own news cycle.
She has been praised and criticized because her outfits are known to break royal protocol -- like the time she wore an off-the-shoulder dress at the Queen's Birthday Parade.
The Duchess of Sussex is in the running for the surfboard trophy alongside Blake Lively, Harry Styles, Chadwick Boseman, Zendaya and Migos at Fox's annual ceremony, according to Page Six.
Although it is unlikely that she will actually attend the event on Aug. 12 at the Forum in Inglewood, California, fans can support Markle by voting for her on the 2018 Teen Choice Awards website. (ely/kes)
