ndonesia hosted the ASEAN Car Free Day (CFD) in Jakarta on Sunday, which coincided with a performance of the poco-poco dance by some 65,000 people in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest line dance (multiple venues).
The ASEAN CFD is a Health Ministry effort at the regional level to promote a healthy lifestyle and decrease air pollution, which is supported by the health ministries of ASEAN member states.
Jakarta first introduced Car Free Day in 2012, and it has been deemed successful in encouraging the public to get involved in physical activities. Other cities across the archipelago have since introduced their own car-free days.

Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Puan Maharani said in a statement that the government was thankful for the role ASEAN had given to Indonesia to launch the ASEAN CFD.
"Seeing the high participation of the public during CFD, we are committed to continuing this activity in Indonesia and its continuation at a regional level," she said, adding that the launch was a present from Indonesia to ASEAN, which marked its 51st anniversary on Aug. 8. (anm/kes)
