“It’ll be an eight- or nine-episode season. The number of episodes will be dictated by the amount of story that excites us. We now know what is going to happen in season three to every character.” said by the executive producer – Shawn Levy during his interview with Glamour.
Since the main characters are growing up, there will be a time jump between season two and three. “It forces you to do a time jump. But what I like is that it makes you evolve the show,” directors The Duffers said.

This time, Will Byers will definitely have a break from his trauma in the Upside Down World during the last two seasons. “We’re not going to put Will through hell for a third season in a row. He’ll be dealing with stuff, but he won’t be at rock bottom the way we forced the amazing Noah Schnapp to play.” Levy said.
“We don’t want to rush [post-production] because, once again, there’s a lot of visual effects, and so, no, we aren’t necessarily going to hold on so that we launch at the same time that we’re set. You also wouldn’t be happy if we rushed it.”
So expect that the next season might be full of mysteries and fun. Who will be next character to go beyond the asylum of the Upside Down world? If you are curious and you don’t mind spoilers, then there are theories on how the series will run.
