D’Masiv pays tribute to Seventeen

D'Masiv and other Indonesian celebrities paid tribute to Seventeen following the Sunda Strait tsunami on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018.

ndonesian pop band D’Masiv paid tribute to fellow band Seventeen, which was affected by the Sunda Strait tsunami, during their concert in Yogyakarta.

A video uploaded by vocalist Rian on Sunday, Dec. 22, shows D’Masiv performing one of Seventeen’s songs, “Selalu Mengalah” (Always Giving In), and the audience singing along. “It’s a form of tribute to our fellow musicians and friends in Seventeen,” wrote Rian in his Instagram post.

Ifan, the vocalist of Seventeen, also commented on the post, adding crying emojis.

Prior to the band’s Yogyakarta performance, Rian uploaded a post that encouraged his followers to pray for the victims, including members of Seventeen.

Aside from D’Masiv, other Indonesian celebrities also expressed their condolences through their social media accounts, including musician Melly Goeslaw, singer Mulan Jameela and musician Virgoun, according to Tribunnews.com.

On Saturday, Dec. 22, Seventeen performed in Tanjung Lesung, Banten, at an event for employees of state-owned electricity firm PLN. The band members were hit by the waves in the middle of their performance. Kompas.com reported that the stage was located 3 to 4 meters from the beach.

The band has lost its bassist Bani, guitarist Herman, road manager Oki and crew member Ujang. Drummer Andi and Ifan’s wife Dylan Sahara are still missing. (wir/mut)
