em>Wonder Woman took its audience back to World War I, and Wonder Woman 1984 is set to take us back to the 1980s. It seems apparent that Wonder Woman 3 will not be set in the past, following filmmaker Patty Jenkins hint about the sequel: “I’m not planning to put it in the past again, because where are you going to go?”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Jenkins suggested that the third instalment of the series would not be set in the past.
“I’m not set, but I’m not doing another period piece,” Jenkins said. She seemed receptive in reference to a past article from THR, suggesting that Wonder Woman 3 should be set in the future.

“It’s definitely one of the things we talked about […] You have to go forward. It’s definitely a contemporary story. That’s all I can say. Where we put it and how that gets figured out, I haven’t totally nailed down,” said Jenkins.
More than a year out from the release of the second movie of the saga, Wonder Woman 1984, Jenkins has already shared her vision for the third. Following the unequivocal success of 2017 blockbuster Wonder Woman, which earned US$821.8 million globally, we know why it’s already a hot topic.
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman has already made an appearance in contemporary settings, in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League.
